Ubud now has two Smile Shops - one across the road from its original location in Jalan Sri Wedari, the other in Nyuh Kuning - so we have two places to find great bargains and help make a difference to beautiful Balinese smiles.
Yayasan Senyum, the Balinese non-profit that supports cranio-facial surgery for disfigured and disadvantaged children, has an outstanding reputation. Over the past decade, many children from Bali and Lombok have had their lives completely changed with surgery either here or in South Australia with Dr David David and other great cranio-facial surgeons.
Toko Senyum (the Smile Shop) is a great place to donate any unwanted clothes, jewellery or household items, or to snap up a great deal, especially as many generous businesses and hotels donate the last few items of one collection, as their new season begins. (Hint: watch for great sheets and towels, donated by five star hotels).
